University Town Transformed by History. This is the subtitle of the desk and wall calendars which are the first two items in a series of products related to the UP jubilee, produced by the UPoint university shop.
Both calendars are richly illustrated with photo collages comparing the look of the City of Olomouc throughout history via photographs. Its author is Vojtěch Duda – photographer and graphic artist at the UP Rector’s Office Department of Communications. It uses historic photos from the State District Archives in Olomouc, the Palacký University Archives, and the personal archives of two photographers: Josef Słowik, who passionately photographed Olomouc as a medical student in the 1970s; and Petr Zatloukal, a professional photographer who became celebrated for his photojournalism of the Velvet Revolution in Olomouc.
