Visit Olomouc and be reminded about your student years! You may look forward to the opening of selected university buildings, guided tours, relaxation in the special zone in the city centre, AFO cinema, pub quiz, evening concert as well as discounted accommodation with our partners.
The jubilee Alumni day is connected with Olomouc’s European Heritage Days, which will allow UP graduates to experience a busy weekend to remember.
Launch of the university microbrewery Eureka and the beer RE450N UP

UP Faculty of Science
On Saturday, 9 September, the university brewery, which was established at the Department of Experimental Chemistry of the Faculty of Science of UP, will be officially christened. At the same time, its first product will be introduced – the university anniversary beer RE450N UP, the recipe of which originated from the university brewery and the first batch of which was brewed in the local brewery Chomout.

Award of Honorary Doctorate
11 September 2023, 10.00-11.00
In the year of its 450th anniversary, Palacký University will award an honorary doctorate to Archbishop Dr. Christoph Cardinal Schönborn, one of the most outstanding theologians of our time, for his significant contribution to the development of theology on a European scale. The honorary doctorate will be awarded on the proposal of the Scholarly Board of the Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology and by decision of the Scholarly Board of Palacký University.
Street Art Palacký
9-19 September 2023
J. L. Fischer dormitory
In cooperation with the Street Art Festival, an original mural with the image of the young František Palacký will be created on UP’s J. L. Fischer dormitory. The large-format mural in a busy place will remind passers-by and commuters of a prominent figure in Czech history, whose birth this year marks 225 years and whose name is borne by the university. The mural resulting from an open competition will be the seventh large-scale graffiti painting within the Envelopa dormitory campus.
MEET UP 23

One day to get acquainted with student societies and university units, one day to have fun and enjoy the start of the academic year in the informal atmosphere of the waterfront. MEET UP 23 will reflect the important anniversary of the University of Olomouc. Look forward to concerts, djs, a gastro zone or the new university beer RE450N UP! In cooperation with the UP Volunteer Center, we will also reward student volunteers with the annual Rector’s Award.
Opening ceremony of the academic year
5–6 October 2023
The opening ceremony of the academic year of Czech universities is organised by the Czech Conference of Rectors with the participation of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic and leading personalities of Czech higher education. Each year a different university hosts the important event – in 2023, our alma mater will receive this honour.
Exhibition of university insignia
Olomouc Regional Museum
In cooperation with the Olomouc Regional Museum, we are preparing a unique exhibition of university insignia. The rare collection includes the seals, maces, and chains formerly and currently used by academic dignitaries in Olomouc.
Long Night of the Sciences

Experiments, tastings, tests, workshops, tours, and lots of fun – all these await visitors from the afternoon to long in the evening at the popular event Long Night of the Sciences. In addition to popular and educational activities at UP faculties and departments, we are also preparing video mapping commemorating 450 years of the university.
Ceremonial concert of the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc

Reduta, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc
On the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy and International Student Day, a celebratory concert will be held to mark the 450th anniversary of the founding of the University of Olomouc. The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc will premiere the suite Templum Honoris, written by music composers and members of the academic community of Palacký University Olomouc Jan Vičar, Vít Zouhar, Marek Keprt and Tomáš Hanzlík. The Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in C major, Op. 27 by Pavel Vranický and Symphony No. 1 in F minor, Op. 10 by Dmitri Shostakovich will also be performed. The concert will be broadcast live on Czech Radio Vltava.
